Happy New Year!  Although I don’t give a lot of credence to this holiday, it is as good a starting point as any.

My over-active brain has a tough time seeing this as just an arbitrary date.  What makes January 1 the beginning of the year?  I like to look at the Winter Solstice as more of a logical beginning, but I suppose that not everyone in the world has the Winter Solstice at the same time.  So, January first is a good date as any to bring a new year into play.

Anyway, this year, it does hold some significance to me.  These past few years have been both challenging and awakening for me, and I have decided to use this day to start fresh.

I am, also, not a fan of the concept of “resolutions” I have never known anyone, including myself, who has used it to make any sort of lasting change.  Instead, starting and continuing this blog will be my New Year’s “Revolution.”  I will revolt against all the things that have kept me from being the person I know that I am. I will revolt against all the people who have tried to convince me that I have no worth and that I have no capability to accomplish what I dream of.

This is a revolution against a world that seems, sometimes, as if it is doing its best to kill me while I very much want to stay alive.  I very much want to experience a world that I suspect also has so much so much joy to show me.

This is a journey that I am looking forward to and hope to find people who will be by my side to both support and advise me.  I am not afraid to hear anyone call me on my bullshit. Feel free to join me.
